Dewey’s Fall Readathon 2022 Kick-off

It’s time for the best Dewey’s readathon, the fall readathon! And it’s actually quite the nice fall weather out and my partner is making me a coffee-cocoa to get things going today, and under a blanket with cozy NASA socks as we speak. I’m READY.

As per tradition, first the readathon opening survey:

What fine part of the world are you reading from today?

The Hague! (The Netherlands)

Which book in your stack are you most looking forward to?

I think Roald Dahl’s “Rhyme Stew”, illustrated by Quentin Blake, of course. (“Warning! Unsuitable for small readers!”)
It’s been a hwhile since I read some Roald Dahl.

Which snack are you most looking forward to?

Some gevulde speculaas, a Dutch spiced cookie treat filled with almond paste. The spice mix is similar to pumpkin spice, perfect for fall. Especially if you heat it up!

Tell us a little something about yourself!

I’m 34, live with my British partner, planning to move (back) to Wales as soon as they’ll let us. I have a tiny feline pride consisting of 2 black cats; Guinness and Darwin. I am a maker of things, both digital and meat space. I love to cook. I neglected my blog for a near decade – but finally motivated to work on it! But it may look barren a bit. I’m a gamer.

Before the pandemic hit I volunteered at the local library, library café, and do proofreading for my partner’s scientific papers and such, now I’m mostly running around the house, studying languages, but still proofreading!

I have ADHD, CPTSD and Fibromyalgia/ME/CFS – which is a combination which brings its own sets of challenges, but we got a handle on it.

My hobbies rotate and I’ve recently embraced the seasonal hobbies, currently back into rotation are my blog and yarncrafts – you know, to prepare for winter’s cold and blogging-about-books-and-snack-needs – and watercolour.

Spookyseason is my favourite season. Christmas is my partners. We like to combine the decorations so we have tinsel covered bat lights on our mantle.

If you participated in Dewey’s 24hr Readathon April 2022 Kick-off”>the last readathon, what’s one thing you’ll do different today?

I miss the hourly challenges and things, as well as the interaction of cheerleading, so I will probably try to take 10 minutes every hour to post a picture for the picture challenge, and check out what other people posted. I like the community part, and that seems to be more individually driven now.

Also for the first time ever I’m fully digital! I didn’t get any physical books from the library, they’re all e-book and audiobook! Weird! Though of course I still have some dead tree editions around me. How could I not?

I’ll also be using the audiobooks and work on the design aspects of the website whilst listening to a book!
