Bout of books 9.0 sign-up and goals

Bout of Books Huzzah! A new year! After a year of waiting a new library card! A new goodreads challenge that I will hopefully not utterly fail because I can read the books I want and have more brainwidth! o/ And now: Bout of books! ๐Ÿ˜€
(Somehow I feel mentally out of breath because of that summation though =’))

For those unfamiliar with Bout of Books:

Sundays in with..Catcher in the Rye

link to midnightbookgirl's post

This Sunday was one of traveling! And my family of friends. Picked up by Marius and Ingrid by car, drove to Saskia and Arnoud to drop off the laundry I did and pick up Puk to go to the Museon with him! It’s a science museum with a focus on active learning; doing things and discovering. But that’ll be in tomorrow’s post. I had some oppurtunities to read though, despite it not exactly being as comfy as my bed fort.
I think I’ve done a ‘Sundays in bed with’ on ‘Catcher in the Rye’ before, or the May Bout of Books, but truth to be told: never finished it. But I did now! ๐Ÿ˜€

Catcher in the Rye
As posted in the GoodReads review: I’m still on the fence about this one. On one hand I like some parts, some narrative. And sometimes it engages me to want to slap Holden in the face. Continue reading

Dewey’s read-a-thon October 2012: Nog 3, 3 minuten voordat ik stop!

  • Which hour was most daunting for you?
  • Around 10-12pm, surprisingly! But I had been up since 4.30PM Friday!

  • Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?
  • Hm..I’ll get back to that when my cognitive functioning is restored!

  • Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?

  4. Do you have any goals for the read-a-thon (i.e. number of books, number of pages, number of hours, or number of comments on blogs)?
  5. If you participated in the last read-a-thon, whatโ€™s one thing youโ€™ll do different today? If this is your first read-a-thon, what are you most looking forward to? Any advice for people doing this for the first time?

Dewey’s 24 hour read-a-thon cheerleader badge

As a Dewey’s read-a-thon cheerleader you get badges for your blog to show you’re an official cheerleader.
Unfortunately red doesn’t suit my theme, but that doesn’t really matter, I just altered it!

But…Which one to pick?
I like the left one because it’s plain and simple, but the right on has my favorite ascii! It’s even my favicon! Tea! o/
You tell me your favorite in the comments! ๐Ÿ˜€
Dewey's read-a-thon official cheerleader badge alteration by Cy-VDewey's read-a-thon official cheerleader badge alteration with cheering ascii

I was also thinking of putting a sneaky little owl somewhere (#TeamOwl!), but I like to be able to use it for other read-a-thons as well, not just this one. And maybe others’d like it too!

Feel free to use these for your blog. A link/credit back would be appreciated.

Dewey’s read-a-thon October 2013! *o/*

FINALLY! Dewey’s read-a-thon! (Still not read-a-thong. Or read-a-ton, which I do plan on. Figuratively.) I’ve actually been waiting for this! Somehow twice a year doesn’t seem like enough, maybe I should find a read-a-thon for the quarters in between ๐Ÿ˜‰ Or other book blogging events! I’m still not a book blogger though. Still trying to find out what I actually _am_ as a blogger as my blog still mainly consists of the gathering of old LiveJournal (and other) diary-like pages. But I digress!

Read-a-thon! Those unfamiliar with Dewey’s read-a-thon: It’s a biannual reading event where a whole bunch of people (mainly bloggers) stock on snacks and sweets, beverages (caffeinated are popular), blankeys, cats and oh, books! ๐Ÿ˜† The goal is to read, do challenges and chat with other participants for 24 hours, with starting times depending on your time zone. In my case that means I start at 2 pm, so that’s a long day =X

I won’t just be participating, but I was actually in time to sign up as a cheerleader this year! But, musn’t forget!

Still deciding on my book pile, so I’ll update on that later! Just wanted to share in case others wanted to join too! You can do that here.

Also, if you’re from The Netherlands let me know so I can add you to the {Twitter list}!

Sundays in bed with…Deadlocked

link to midnightbookgirl's postI actually read! o/
It feel like it’s been forever, and it has been a long while. I think last winter was when I really read like I’m used to. So the title of the book I’m reading is somewhat apt I guess? ๐Ÿ™„ But I was tired and I still hadn’t finished reading that Sookie Stackhouse novel! So I tried and somehow read a little over 70 pages (which was more than I already read). I’m still awfully far behind on my Goodreads challenge, as I’ve set it to 52 and I’ve only fully read 4 books (and started in about 10 or more ๐Ÿ™„ ) and not feeling able to read at all for various reasons – mostly health-related though. I’ve lowered it to 26, so I’m still pretty far behind, but I’m hoping to make a big dent in that. I still have 3 full months! Continue reading
